Important Information for Students/Families

Greetings Eureka City Schools Families,

It is with a heavy heart that I deliver this evening’s message. Tonight, the Eureka City Schools Board of Trustees took action to extend the distance learning model for our students through the end of the school year. Traditional face-to-face instruction is scheduled to resume next fall, unless the Humboldt County Office of Public Health advises us it is safe for students and staff to return to school. It is important that learning continues despite the closure of our school sites. At this point, graduations and promotions have not been canceled, but a final determination will be made as we get closer to these dates. The impact of the coronavirus is tragic and this is just another impact our community is feeling. Please continue to connect with your student’s teacher(s) and school via the web or telephone. Finally, please take a minute to thank your children’s teachers and the support staff in our schools including those preparing and serving the 2,000 plus meals every day to our students. I am very proud of the efforts they have been putting forth in these trying times. This message will be posted on Facebook and the District website.

Stay well and stay strong.

Fred Van Vleck, Ed.D.
