Lightspeed Classroom Information

Dear ECS Families:

We would like to inform you of a new tool teachers will begin using this week to help boost teacher effectiveness and student engagement.

Lightspeed Classroom Management is a tool for teachers to manage the computer use of their students during their scheduled class time. It gives teachers a quick look at what is on the students' school computer screens , instantly shares a link with all students, allows teachers to block or close pages that students should not be using, and focus students' school computer screens to a specific set of sites relevant to what is being taught. Below are descriptions of some of the features:

Screen views

Keep an eye on class activity and student screens with real-time, easy-to-understand activity tables and screen views.

Class controls

Lock devices to get eyes up front, close tabs, or limit student web access for secure testing or focused learning.

Easily share links, broadcast teacher or student screens, and check in with students with simple (safe!) messaging.

Monitor individual students

Zero in on individual students to see what they’re doing, check-in, control access, and keep them on track.

Save precious class minutes by employing automation to move students out of restricted Internet access.

Limitations of Use

Lightspeed does not allow teachers to view or control a student’s computer camera or microphone. The only time a teacher can see or hear a student through their computer is when they are on a Google Meet.

If you have any questions regarding the use of this technology tool, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
