Substitute Teachers

On call, Day-to-Day Substitute Teachers for the school year are needed at Eureka City Schools for all grades (T-K through 12th grade).

Eureka City Schools pays the following rates for Day-to-Day Substitute Teachers:
General sub rate is $125 for a full day and $62.50 for a half-day. 

General long-term sub rate is $135 per full-day beginning with the 21st consecutive day of subbing in the same assignment, and the half-day long-term sub rate is $67.50. 

The Super Sub rate is $175 for a full day and $87.50 for a half day – rate applies after completion of Super Sub training and verification of ability.

Long-term rate for a Super Sub is $200 for a full day and $100 for a half day.

ECS Retiree Teachers are paid $150 for a full day and $75 for a half day.

1:1 SCIA Special Ed (SCIA III) rate is $115 for a full day and $57.50 for a half day. 

You must have a valid California teaching credential OR an Emergency Permit to substitute teach. If you have a 4-year college degree, you are eligible to apply for an Emergency Permit once you pass the CBEST test. Please contact the Humboldt County Office of Education, 707-445-7039, to apply for an Emergency Permit and to find out more about  CBEST testing.
