These celebrations will occur at every school site in the District during the week of September 24th-27th. Each event will offer students a rich cultural experience through interactive performances and meaningful discussions. Highlights include:

An introduction to California Native American Day, by local storyteller and Emcee Ernie Albers.

A Land Acknowledgment and song recognizing the Indigenous peoples of the Wiyot Tribe, whose land we reside on. Led by Native American Eureka City Schools students in traditional regalia.

A performance by Sage Romero, a renowned traditional hoop dancer and speaker, who will share his cultural knowledge and artistry. Performance by Sage Romero.

A captivating presentation by the young international musical performer Chubby Cree, featuring singing, drumming, and dancing with the local Kibby family. Music by Chubby Cree.

Eureka City Schools look forward to this unique opportunity for our students to connect with Native American traditions and celebrate the rich cultural history of our region. You may hear stories and lessons shared by teachers and liaisons leading up to this event.
