Food Services

Welcome back! We look forward to serving your children exceptional meals this school year. The following school sites will continue to participate in the new Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). The California Department of Education (CDE) has approved Alice Birney, Grant, Lafayette, Washington, Winship and Zoe Barnum (including Humboldt Virtual Academy) for this program. What does this mean to you? It means that all of the students enrolled at one of these schools will receive breakfast and lunch FREE. There is no meal application required and all students can participate. Your student will still give their student I.D number to the food service worker at the cash register but there is NO CHARGE.

If your student attends Zane or Eureka High School, you will need to complete a meal application and return to the food service department. You can get this form at your child’s school or download from the link at the bottom of this page. If you received a letter in the mail from us prior to the start of the school year, you do not need to take any further action. There is no charge for students eligible for free or reduced price meals.

Breakfast is served each morning 30 minutes before the start of the school day. Students in grades 6-12 have a second chance to get breakfast later in the morning if they missed the early breakfast. Lunch is served daily at all schools. A FREE after school meal is offered to all students enrolled in the ASES programs and all students at Eureka High School.

If your child requires a meal accommodation, you will need to have a licensed physician or nurse practitioner complete the Special Meal Accommodation Form and return to our food service office. You can locate this form by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page for English or Spanish.

All meals meet the state and federal nutritional guidelines. We are committed to providing healthy, high quality meals to your children. We source local products as often as possible.
