Zane emergency response drill a success By Jaenelle Lampp, Zane assistant principal | |||

W ith the help of Humboldt County’s Office of Emergency Services (OES) representatives, Zane Junior High School conducted a successful emergency response (ER) drill. Last February, 658 students and over 50 staff members were able to follow through with their ER plan in only 7 minutes. The OES team was pleased with how calm and quickly the Zane students and staff completed the drill. It’s due to the help of our local emergency services that made this exercise efficient and thorough. Dan Larkin and Steve Cobine met with Zane’s Safe School Committee, reviewed and revised the plan, attended the staff meeting to clarify each team’s responsibility, and gave feedback after observing the actual drill. Since school sites have different climates and structures, the OES team “coaches” each site individually. They are willing to be as involved as the schools would like them to be. For more information on how you can benefit from this service either for your school site, business, or home, call Dan Larkin at 268-2502.
