E ureka City Schools is very excited about the 2000-2001 school year. As this edition of The Reporter demonstrates, we provide a very impressive array of programs and opportunities for our students. The accomplishments of our students and staff have received both state and national recognition for excellence. Washington and Grant Elementary schools have recently been honored as California Distinguished Schools. Our performance on the statewide STAR test continues to improve. We are providing numerous opportunities after school for students to receive extra help in reading and mathematics. We look forward to renewing our commitment to student achievement through excellence in teaching. Staff is very aware of the new accountability standards and is dedicated to ensuring that our students are successful in meeting those standards. Our success in these efforts will be measured in part with our collaboration with parents and community. We are very proud of our numerous partnerships with community agencies and businesses. These partnerships enhance opportunities for students to learn through involvement in community activities. Together we can create and maintain a learning environment for our students that will invite their personal and academic growth. Thank you for your efforts in helping us deliver for the children of Eureka.
