Lafayette students help build reading garden
|
S tudents, teachers, parents, and community volunteers at Lafayette School had fun pulling concrete benches across the school's parking lot and into the new Peggy Kirkpatrick Reading Garden. On June 13, the crew manned ropes and dragged the heavy benches on top of wood rollers. Students and teachers dressed like ancient Egyptians and teachers designed curriculum around an Egyptian theme. The concrete benches were donated to the school by the City of Eureka. The Coast Guard donated rope and steel cable. Ted Lewis, from Bethel Church, placed the benches in the garden with his forklift.
