Eureka City Schools offer small class sizes | |||
|
E ven though Eureka City Schools is Humboldt County’s largest school district, the district continues to offer some of the area’s smallest class sizes. After enjoying class size reduction of no more than 20 students in kindergarten, first, second, and third–grades, the district used federal class size reduction funds to lower fourth–grade class size to 24 students. Special funds were also used to reduce ninth–grade English and math classes at Eureka High School to 18.7 and 18.5 students respectively. In all alternative education programs, such as Zoe Barnum High School, Humboldt Bay High School, Transition Opportunity Program, Directed Home Study, and Eureka Elementary Academy, the class sizes are considerably lower. Classes in the Learning Resource Program are not to exceed 28, and Special Day classes have a maximum of 14 students.
