Reminder:  Parents of First thru Fifth graders, PLEASE wait and meet your student (s) in the front of the school ... Thank you!

Want to help?.. Every Monday 8:30 to 11:15 am in our cafeteria, grades K and 1st are participating in 20 minute sessions of motor development.  Catrina Scheffler is the organizer and needs more volunteers.  Please call the office for more information ... 441-2482!

Drivers Needed ... This year our students have been invited to participate in a cross-generational experience with seniors living at alder Bay.  Students will be making crafts with the residents.  Our first event is scheduled for October 30th from 9:30 to 11:30.  If you would be able to drive students to and from Alder Bay, please contact Principal Kathleen Honsal ... 441-2482.

COMING October 27th ... LIONS LOOPS!  Monday, October 27th is a major PTA fundraising event that benefits Lafayette's school activities.  The money raised from LIONS LOOPS helps to fund many of the great programs and activities the PTA sponsors at Lafayette throughout the year.  Each class at Lafayette will participate in this event in which students will walk/jog/run a loop of 175 meters as many times as they can in a 20-minute time period.  Each student will be asking friends and relatives to sponsor them by pledging to pay a certain amount for each lap completed, or a specific donation amount.
Thanks in advance for your help and support.

Got Tennis Balls? : Did you know that our school can utilize new and used tennis balls?  Yes, they are used to cover the feet of student chairs.  These items help to keep our classes not only quiet but also save the wear and tear on the chairs and floors.  For more information talk to your child's teacher or call the school office (441-2482).

Too Early! : Your students should not arrive on campus before 7:40 am.  Adult supervision is not provided until this time.  Students remain in the cafeteria until 8 am when they are dismissed to go to the play area.  School begins promptly at 8:10.
Please do not send or drop off your student before 7:40 am!

Lunch:  We encourage you to prepay ahead for your child's lunches.  This can be arranged with our cafeteria staff or send a note and payment with your child.  If your child brings lunch money daily, they can take it to the cafeteria before school, preventing any loss of money during the day.

BOX TOPS for EDUCATION: Box tops are back!  Please save your BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION coupons.  They are on any General Mills products.  Before turning them in please trim them down to just the coupon only.  They can be turned in to your child's classroom or the office anytime!  Monthly box top classroom winners will get to display the "official box top trophy" in their classroom.  The class with the most wins will get an ice cream party in June!  So start saving / collection today ... remind your neighbors and grandparents as well!  Congrats to Mrs. Stewart's 1st grade class for the 170 box tops collected in September!  Mrs. Stewart's class will have the TROPHY in her class for the entire month of October....way to go 1st grade!

Lafayette Lion's School Song
(words by Adelene Jones music by Woody Guthrie)
This school is your school,
This school is my school,
Let’s work together
To make it our school.
We are the Lions,
The Lafayette Lions,
This school is here for you and me.

As I was walking,
To school down Park Street,
I looked above me, and saw Dawn Redwoods.
I looked around me,
And saw our playground
This school is here for you and me.

This school is your school,
This school is my school,
Let's work together
To make it our school.
We are the Lions,
The Lafayette Lions,
This school is here for you and me.

Our students learn how to eat healthy and make healthy food choices while enjoying GREAT 'food' literature and getting tips on how to stay fit.  Harvest of the Month connects with core curricula and links the classroom, library, cafeteria, home and community...(click here) to find out more.

We're proud to announce that we are a
