The future of Winship Middle School is very important to all of us, and as such I am taking immediate action to appoint an interim principal.
It is with a great deal of concern that I report Winship Principal Kathy Cloney-Gardiner’s health is such that she will need to take the rest of the school year off to focus on her recovery. At this point, she plans her return for the start of the 2015-16 school year. Please keep her and her family in your thoughts.
Hank Beck, a retired veteran administrator in Eureka City Schools, will be stepping in as Interim Principal to finish off the 2014-15 school year. He brings with him a vast administrative and teaching experience and knowledge, including being the former principal of Winship before his retirement. His official start day will be Monday, March 16. To bridge the gap between now and Monday the 16th, Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Tish Nilsen is on campus in addition to the rest of the regular staff.
