Eureka City School Board Appoints an Interim Superintendent

At a special workshop meeting on Thursday, July 7, 2011, the Eureka City Schools Governing Board approved an Employment Agreement for an Interim Superintendent for the 2011-12 school year. ECS Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and Special Education Lee Ann Lanning has agreed to serve as Interim Superintendent from July 8, 2011 through June 30, 2012.
Ms. Lanning has been employed by Eureka City Schools for approximately 24 years. She has served as school psychologist, Healthy Start Coordinator, Program Specialist of special education, Director of Special Education, elementary school principal, and Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and Special Education.
Ms. Lanning stated, “It is a privilege to serve as Interim Superintendent for Eureka City Schools. We will continue to provide our students with a rigorous, standards-based curriculum that promotes a college and vocational education going culture.”
In November, the Governing Board will begin a competitive search process to employ a permanent district superintendent. It is anticipated this process will be completed by July 1, 2012.
