Message to Parents of EHS and Zane Students
- Published: Tuesday, December 16, 2014
Hello, this is Rick Jordan, Principal of Eureka High School. We have completed our investigation into yesterday’s BB gun shooting. It has been determined that the injury was a result of horseplay amongst students while at a private residence during the lunch period. All students involved have been appropriately disciplined. There is no ongoing concern related to this situation.
The safety and well being of our students is of the utmost importance, and I am deeply appreciative for the support of our students and parents, allowing us the time to resolve this issue.
Thank you very much.
Currently there is Police activity in the area north of the Eureka High School campus. The preliminary investigation indicates a Eureka High School student was hit with a BB gun in the Sandy Gulch area. As a safety measure we are advising students that when they leave school today they do not travel on K, L, and M streets north of the High School, past the Del Norte Parking Lot, and this includes 17th Street where it crosses K, L, and M streets.
We are also advising students to not travel down 15th Street between J and M Streets.
School and District staff will be present and directing students away from this area.
Additional information to follow.
