Teacher of the Year 2014

On June 5, 2014, Eureka City Schools announced Washington Elementary kindergarten teacher Maikken Bass as their 2013-14 Teacher of the Year. Maikken was chosen from eight of her esteemed colleagues to receive this award. Each Eureka City school chose one certificated staff member from their site to be awarded their site Teacher of the Year. Of these, one teacher was chosen to receive the Eureka City Schools 2013-14 Teacher of the Year Award.

Some of the stand out traits of Maikken Bass includes:

  • Continually curious and professionally vital, both inside and outside the classroom
  • Always maintains an enviable enthusiasm for children and the learning process
  • As evidenced in every interaction, is always available to students and their parents
  • Greatly involved in school-wide committees and activities, and demonstrates a commitment to the school and peers
  • Widely-recognized for their expertise in her grade level
  • Passion for learning and crafting of her skills
