Dear Zane Parents and Students

The start of the school is just around the corner and we are excited to welcome you to the BEST middle school in the world!!  We hope you had a restful and relaxing summer and are as excited about the start of school as we are here at Zane.

Below you will find important information and a list of and dates that will help us all start off the year in a positive way.  Please read through the information below and if you have any questions feel free to give us a call.  We are here to help.  This is a reminder that proof of Tdap (Whooping Cough) immunization is required for every student in grades 7 – 12 in order to attend classes this year.  If you have not gotten this shot yet, please make arrangements to get it before the start of school and provide proof to the office.

ALL STUDENTS:
Back to School Packets will be mailed home to you mid-August.  Every student, new and returning, will need to complete the information in the packet and return it when you come to pick up your schedule.

First Day of School is a full day - Monday, August 26th.  Regular bell schedule will be 8:30 A.M. - 3:05 P.M. daily.

6th & 7th GRADE STUDENTS:
6/7th Grade Schedule Pickup.  6th and 7th graders may pick up their schedules on Monday, August 19th between 12 P.M. – 4 P.M. and 7th graders can also pick up their textbooks.   Come to the cafeteria with your completed and signed packet and exchange it for your schedule, planner, and textbooks (7th only).  It is not necessary for a parent to accompany you, but if the packet is not completely filled out, or if signatures are missing, you will not be able to complete the process and pick up your schedule.

6/7th Grade Orientation is Friday, August 23rd from 12 P.M. - 3 P.M. in the gym.   This is an opportunity to become familiar with Zane and how things work here. Students will learn everything they need to know about how to be successful in middle school, and it will make the first day of school less stressful and so much easier. Not only will students learn about Zane, but they will meet lots of people and make new friends.  This orientation is highly encouraged for our incoming 6th and 7th grade students. The orientation will include a student assembly with large and small group interactions, fun games and ice breakers, and get-to-know-you types of activities that are all designed to orient students as to how middle school works, get them comfortable on campus, and address their concerns in an enjoyable manner.

The orientation will begin with a complimentary lunch provided by our student leadership class and our PTSA. Zane staff will join the students for lunch to help welcome our new students to the Zane Family.  Students should wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy sitting, standing and movement.  There is no need to bring a backpack or any stuff…travel light.  Students should arrive by about 11:55 A.M. and can be picked up at 3 P.M.  If you have questions, please call Trevor Hammons at 441-2472.

An orientation for Parents/Guardian will be held in the cafeteria at 2:15 P.M. and will conclude at 3:00 P.M.

8th GRADE STUDENTS:
8th Grade Schedule Pickup.  8th graders may pick up their schedule and textbooks on Tuesday, August 20th between 12 P.M. – 4 P.M.  Come to the cafeteria with your completed and signed packet and exchange it for your schedule, planner, and textbooks.  It is not necessary for a parent to accompany you, but if the packet is not completely filled out, or if signatures are missing, you will not be able to complete the process and pick up your schedule.

There will be more information in your packet, so please read through it carefully.  Remember packets will be mailed and you will need to have it completed and all parent signatures BEFORE you come to pick up a schedule.  Incomplete packets will not be accepted and students will not receive a schedule until the completed packet is turned in.  Again, welcome to what we know will be the best school year you have experienced so far.  Don’t hesitate to call if you have any questions or if there is something that we can help you with.

See you soon!
